Aimee, Craig, and baby bump Noah

I’m so excited for Aimee and Craig.  We met just a little over a year ago when they were pregnant with baby Jonah and it was such a miracle for them.  And now, they are expecting baby Noah in just a few short weeks.  Life can really surprise you sometimes, and I’m so happy that they have had such wonderful surprises!

Sizzling summer specials!/Dallas Portrait Photographer

We have a couple of great specials going on right now at Shades of You.  Spaces are limited and will fill up quickly so please call or email if you would like to book a session.

First, we have our Mini Maternity Special-for all Mommies-to-Be due in August, September, or October.  Book a mini maternity session (half price/half time) and your newborn session is COMPLIMENTARY (if held within the first 2 weeks).  Yep, you heard correctly.  We know that times are tough right now and we still want our wondeful clients to have the experience of both sessions.

Second, we are having a Sliding Summer Sizzler Sale for all returning clients (you know I love ya!).  You can save up to 30% on ala carte prints for all sessions booked and held between July 10 and August 31st.  Here’s how it works:  10% off of your session fee AND your ala carte prints for each time you’ve previously been here (up to 30%).  So, if you’ve been here once you get 10% off your prints.  Twice?  You get 20% off.  Three or more?  30% off.  Please note that this is not to be used with other promotions or casting call sessions.

Finally, are you a new client?  If this is your first session, mention our blog and receive half off your session fee and a complimentary 5×7 with your portrait session.  Welcome to our little “family”.

Please call or email the studio if you are interested in booking your session.  See you soon!

Pretty Bria/Dallas Pregnancy Photography

Had a great time with this beautiful mommy to be…I really enjoyed our time together.

Karen, Scott, Cash, and ?/Dallas Maternity Photography

Just kidding about the question mark…we know that little Cooper is arriving next week and this sweet family will be back for newborn portraits.  So glad that they moved back to Texas just in time for me to capture this sweet time in their lives….again.  I remember when little Cash was right where Coop is now.

Lovely mommy-to-be

I had such a fun time working with Christina.  Such a beautiful mommy-to-be, and not just on the outside.  And, the baby is due on my birthday!  I’m looking forward to the newborn session already!

Roberta, Scott, and Conner (8 days old)

I really, really like this family so much. I knew it when I did their pregnancy portraits…I just felt so comfortable with them. And then today I got to meet baby Conner. He is delicious. I have to say, though, he was quite the pooper. And when he was done with me, he sure let us know. Just look at him. That hair…that sweet face. He is perfect.

Mommy is in love…oh, and he was so funny with his legs. This boy did NOT want to be squished up. He was straight-legging the whole time.

Mommy and Daddy kept saying he was Daddy’s little “mini me”…I agree!

Saying thank you..

I think, in our busy lives, we often forget to say “thank you” and we also tend to forget how much it means to hear it. I got the following letter from a client and she asked me to share it. Reading it, you will understand how it touched my heart. It only takes a moment or two to tell someone that you appreciate something. Do it. Time passes by so quickly and life goes on. But those words stay with the person forever. Thank you, Aimee, for such a beautiful and heartfelt letter.

Dear Amy -

If you will, please post the following on your website (which, btw looks great with the updates/changes you’ve made). Can’t wait to view the proofs!!:

Saying “thank you” just doesn’t convey our appreciation well enough. As you know from the history we’ve shared, the road to finally having Jonah in our life has been a very long one. Your incredible connection to us and the ability to capture all the emotion from our maternity sessions to our newborn session and I’m sure beyond, through your camera lens, is something we will be forever grateful for. Our baby is a true miracle and you have been a very special gift. Thank you doesn’t seem like enough, but we do truly thank you.

Craig, Aimee & Jonah

Aimee, Craig, and baby Jonah (8 days)

I have to say, right off, that I just adore this family.  You might remember pics from Aimee and Craig’s maternity session (fingerpainting the belly), and now baby Jonah is here.  There are not even words for me to describe how precious this little angel is.  Watching Aimee and Craig fall in love with Jonah…it is something to behold.
Just look at this sweet boy:

The whole family:

Aimee and Craig, I am so looking forward to this next year together. Thank you for choosing me to share in this wonderful time in your lives. I feel honored.

Rivers (almost 4), Autumn (almost 2) and John (2 months)

Whew….well, we were supposed to go to the park but it ended up really cold this morning and these 2 lovely girls were in sundresses.  So we postponed our outdoor fun but decided to just do a “mini” inside session.  Let me just say–it is a challange to work with 3 little ones these ages.  I love each of this children, really I do.  These have been favorite clients for a long, long time.  But you can imagine, right?  Rivers is looking at me, but Autumn is running out of frame.  Or Autumn is sitting nicely but Rivers has rolled over on the floor. Or they are both in frame but looking in different directions.   And then there’s John.  At 2 months old he is a precious, adorable, laid back baby.  But definitely not “rugged” enough to participate –as the girls don’t really understand how to hold his head up and he can’t hold it up yet himself.

So….I’m hoping that we wait long enough before going to the park that John is sitting up.  Or at least can hold his head up while being held.  But here’s a couple from today that I like.  First, the lovely Rivers.  I adore this girl.

Next, little sister Autumn. She thinks her belly is just hilarious.

Sweet baby John. I wish I’d had more time with him alone.

I love this one of the 3 together. It was really difficult to get the 3 of them at one time.

My personal fave, Rivers and Autumn in a quiet moment. You all know how much I love a nice “serious” portrait! I just love the quietness of it.

Aimee and Craig, Maternity session

This was such a special session.  Aimee and Craig have overcome some pretty big things, and the fact that this little baby is going to be here is quite a miracle.  I don’t want to share their private business, but I will say that I feel tremendously honored that they chose to come to me for these very special portraits.

The beautiful mother-to-be:

A beautiful moment:

We decided it would be fun to fingerpaint the belly:

And now..for the first time ever…we make public the baby’s name (with parent’s permission, of course)!

And one last one of Mommy…just ’cause I think its so pretty in color:

Aimee and Craig, I hope you like these pics! Can’t wait to see you at the proofing. And I really can’t wait for the newborn session. It is going to be awesome!
