Happy New Year!

This past year has been so great here at Shades of You.  We’ve worked with many new clients but have also seen many of our previous friends as well.  We’ve been blessed with sharing so many special memories…anticipating a new baby, celebrating a birth, sharing in special milestones from first birthdays to new pets to graduating high school to families in transition—children ready to go to college or get married, wanting a portrait of the immediate family as it is now.

I wanted to make a little slideshow for my clients from this year…just a little showcase to thank them all.  Can’t wait to see everyone again soon!

Wishing everyone a wonderful 2009!

Baby Velvet

Okay, today’s session was just the most enjoyable morning that I could imagine.   I adore this family.  They have already been here for maternity, newborn, and a “generations” session.  And now, baby Velvet is sitting up.  She is a doll-baby.  But that’s not surprising considering how truly awesome her Mommy and Daddy are.

Here’s a “mush” moment that I love:

She’s on the move!

Fun with Daddy:

And my favorite…which needs no explanation:

Trent and Michelle

Unfortunately, due to my hip surgery, I wasn’t able to shoot this wedding.   That made me feel really sad because I’ve worked with Trent and Michelle this year, twice, and really wanted to shoot their wedding.  Luckily, Pat was able to step in.

The pretty bride coming down the stairs right before the ceremony:

We love the way Michelle is peeking at Trent:

Their first dance:

Snuggling on the steps:

Congratulations Michelle and Trent!

I love Emmy

This little girl is one of my all time favorite children.  Ever.  I love her.  She’s been coming for portraits since she was just a newborn and now she’s a big-girl 2 year old.  I can’t believe it.  She is the most amazing little spirit.

I love this pic. She is telling the kitty “night-night”…

I’m pretty fond of her mom too. What a great job I have that I get to meet fabulous people who, when I’m really lucky, become friends too.

What a face she has…

Great place for chocolate gifts

Okay, with the holidays here you might be looking for yummy gifts.  I have to give a shout out to Sarah’s Pastries and Candies.  Check out their website here

I sent my grandmother, who is a true chocoholic (and probably that’s where I inherited it from), a gift box from Sarah’s.  Let me just say, first of all the customer service was fabulous.  And second, my grandmother has not stopped raving about the chocolates since they arrived.  Each one yummier than the first, and all of them very unique.

I will definitely be ordering from them in the future.  So, just thought I’d pass on a great new find.  Tell them I sent ya!

Brrrrrrrr!

Okay, seriously?  This is crazy.  It is 28.3 degrees out right now, with wind gusts up to 24mph.  I know because I just checked the weather online.  I am a big baby about the cold weather too.  I’m already a person who is cold most of the time.  And I grew up in South Florida.  I sort of think that if its in the 50’s its winter weather.  This is torture.

So, of course, I couldn’t let Wilbur and Shanti go out naked, right?  Here they are…all dressed up for the cold weather.  My little cutie pies.

I’m staying in with some hot chocolate, fuzzy blanket, and my Uggs.  Stay warm Everyone!

Julie, Ed, Ben and Noah

It was so nice to see this family again.  I hadn’t seen them since big brother Ben was baby brother Noah’s age.  Wow.  Its amazing how much Noah looks like Ben did at the same age.  And Ben is a really sweet big brother.

Happy Holidays

Just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season.  I feel so blessed to be able to do what I love for a living.  I have awesome clients who open their lives up to me and let me in for a little while to share their special memories.  I am always moved by that.

So thank you to all of my clients for making this a great year at Shades of You.  Happy Holidays to all!

Coming to a card store near you…

Guess what?  We have another greeting card!  Shanti is now published.  Her pic is going to be on a Father’s Day card, available in the U.S., Canada, and the UK.  It is so exciting.  First Wilbur (with his flower hat), and now Shanti.  The photo is from the second night that we had her — from her “Newborn Session”.  She was just the cutest little girl in the world.

As we get closer to Father’s Day I’ll post where to find the card.

Baby Trent

This little guy stayed awake almost the entire time.  It was a L-O-O-O-N-G session, but we got some really super images.  I was not going to let him be the boss–although who am I kidding?  The newborns, they really do run the whole show.  And then finally, when we were all exhausted we got some really wonderful sleeping pics too.  Yay.
