Sizzling summer specials!/Dallas Portrait Photographer

We have a couple of great specials going on right now at Shades of You.  Spaces are limited and will fill up quickly so please call or email if you would like to book a session.

First, we have our Mini Maternity Special-for all Mommies-to-Be due in August, September, or October.  Book a mini maternity session (half price/half time) and your newborn session is COMPLIMENTARY (if held within the first 2 weeks).  Yep, you heard correctly.  We know that times are tough right now and we still want our wondeful clients to have the experience of both sessions.

Second, we are having a Sliding Summer Sizzler Sale for all returning clients (you know I love ya!).  You can save up to 30% on ala carte prints for all sessions booked and held between July 10 and August 31st.  Here’s how it works:  10% off of your session fee AND your ala carte prints for each time you’ve previously been here (up to 30%).  So, if you’ve been here once you get 10% off your prints.  Twice?  You get 20% off.  Three or more?  30% off.  Please note that this is not to be used with other promotions or casting call sessions.

Finally, are you a new client?  If this is your first session, mention our blog and receive half off your session fee and a complimentary 5×7 with your portrait session.  Welcome to our little “family”.

Please call or email the studio if you are interested in booking your session.  See you soon!

our neighborhood “baby”…

Well, as my Facebook friends know–we have had a roosting owl in our neighborhood that recently had babies.  I have been just crossing my fingers to get a pic of the baby (one did not make it).  So, last week my neighbor called to tell me that she could see the owl really well.  I went down there with my camera and unfortunately for me, the baby wasn’t in the greatest spot with regards to the light.  How thoughtless of her!  So, forgive my not so great quality pics, but I just had to share my excitement.  Everyone, meet “Baby”:

Madeline, High School Senior

I had such a good time with Maddy the other day.  So many cute clothes, such a cute girl.  How could I possibly not get amazing pics?  It is so much fun for me to do Senior portraits and I think my seniors have fun too!

Fun family…

First, I want to say I’m sorry I’m so behind on my blogging.  We have a sick doggie at home and I’ve been to the vet or Emergency vet hospital 3 times in 4 days.  Between that and just keeping up with my work its been a rough week.

I had such a great time with this sweet family.  What a poignant session.  Their beloved dog is 15 years old now.  He is deaf–made getting his attention a little bit of a challange!-but what a sweetheart.  Their daughter is 21 and a senior in college.  This has been the family for the last 15 years.  Right now is a time of being on the brink of such changes.  Not that change is a bad thing…just that keeping a memory of “now” is so important.

There are so many great images from the session. I’m sorry I don’t have time to post a few more, but here is a little peek:

It feels good to give back..

I got to spend my morning today, with some precious dogs from Hillcrest Animal Rescue.   Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love animals (especially dogs).  I feel so blessed to share our home with our wonderful dogs.  They give so much and ask so little.   The sweet dogs below have not been so lucky.  They need loving homes.  Every one of them was a lovebug and I wish I could have adopted them all.  If you are considering adopting a dog, please contact Karen at (469) 363-6433.  She does an amazing job with all of the animals, but the goal is to find them homes where they can get all of the love and attention that they deserve. Please pass this info on if you know anyone who is looking for a pet.  Tell Karen I sent ya!

These sweet dogs, in order, are:  Remus, Benny, Herbie, Dakota, Grizzly, Cuervo, Lauriox, and Cleo.

Happy New Year!

This past year has been so great here at Shades of You.  We’ve worked with many new clients but have also seen many of our previous friends as well.  We’ve been blessed with sharing so many special memories…anticipating a new baby, celebrating a birth, sharing in special milestones from first birthdays to new pets to graduating high school to families in transition—children ready to go to college or get married, wanting a portrait of the immediate family as it is now.

I wanted to make a little slideshow for my clients from this year…just a little showcase to thank them all.  Can’t wait to see everyone again soon!

Wishing everyone a wonderful 2009!

Trent and Michelle

Unfortunately, due to my hip surgery, I wasn’t able to shoot this wedding.   That made me feel really sad because I’ve worked with Trent and Michelle this year, twice, and really wanted to shoot their wedding.  Luckily, Pat was able to step in.

We love the way Michelle is peeking at Trent:

Congratulations Michelle and Trent!

Great place for chocolate gifts

Okay, with the holidays here you might be looking for yummy gifts.  I have to give a shout out to Sarah’s Pastries and Candies.  Check out their website here

I sent my grandmother, who is a true chocoholic (and probably that’s where I inherited it from), a gift box from Sarah’s.  Let me just say, first of all the customer service was fabulous.  And second, my grandmother has not stopped raving about the chocolates since they arrived.  Each one yummier than the first, and all of them very unique.

I will definitely be ordering from them in the future.  So, just thought I’d pass on a great new find.  Tell them I sent ya!

Happy Holidays

Just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season.  I feel so blessed to be able to do what I love for a living.  I have awesome clients who open their lives up to me and let me in for a little while to share their special memories.  I am always moved by that.

So thank you to all of my clients for making this a great year at Shades of You.  Happy Holidays to all!
